The sculpture is an interplay of land and figure. By assembling the roughly hewn stone into a reclining figure I am mirroring the physicality and ancient nature of the weathered and mostly horizontal landscape of Australia – my homeland.
The figure has presence and is at rest, uniting the forms of the figure and the landscape.
